Varsity pre-district: Cardinals are champions of Clear Creek ISD tournament, finish 2-1 at Battleground Invitational

Bellaire Varsity soccer wrapped up pre-district play with an 8-2-1 record leading into District 18-6A action.

Varsity went undefeated in the Clear Creek ISD tournament January 13-15 and emerged champions of their bracket. The Cardinals started play with a draw against Clear Creek, but followed with victories over Manvel, Clear Creek and Angleton to take home the trophy.

The following weekend, Varsity battled the cold and wind at the Battleground Invitational in Deer Park. The Cardinals kicked of the weekend with a tough 1-0 loss against Oak Ridge, but rebounded with an exciting 2-1 win over regionally-ranked Pasadena Dobie and a convincing 5-1 victory against Pasadena.

Going into district play, junior Gabe Garcia-Fayos and Jose Soto lead the team with five goals each, followed by junior Carter Sasser with four goals, and junior Quinten Latchett and senior Tristan Morales with three goals each. Sasser leads the Cardinals with three assists.
