Head Coach - Michael Edwards

Bellaire High School named Michael Edwards as the new Head Coach for the Men’s Varsity team in the Summer of 2022. Edwards oversees the school’s boys soccer program after spending the 2021-2022 season as an assistant varsity coach and head coach of the freshman team.

Edwards teaches world history and has a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in education, both from Baylor University. He’s played soccer for most of his life and is extremely passionate about the sport.

Before getting his master’s in education and coming to Bellaire, Edwards lived in Washington, D.C. and worked as a legislative aide in the U.S. House of Representatives for five years.

Coach Edwards was born in Houston and has deep connections to this city.

JV & Assistant Varsity Coach - Lucian Collins

Lucian Collins joined the Bellaire Men’s Soccer staff in 2022. Coach Collins was raised in the United Kingdom where he was involved in many sports in high school: field hockey, rugby, tennis, badminton, rock climbing, and squash.  He was on the swimming and diving team and played soccer every day after school until the sun went down. These two passions followed him to California, where he enjoyed one of them regularly catching waves in the pacific ocean on a boogie-board. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Collins moved to Texas in 2001, graduated from UTSA (Go Roadrunners!) and completed graduate work at St. Mary’s University (Go Rattlers!). He has been in classrooms since 2006, and has coached soccer for eight years.

He is really excited to be a new Bellaire family member. He teaches English IV and coaches men’s soccer. Additionally, coaching the two water polo teams in their inaugural year is a great honor for him and he hopes to help make the Cardinals the absolute best that they can be. (Go Cardinals!)
